California Downwind Start on Cabrillo's inner beach at San Pedro and head east through the Angels Gate opening. Turn southeast outside the Middle Breakwater, then northeast through Queens Gate towards the water off Junipero Beach in Long Beach. This approximate reconstruction preserves four points from a map image, not an original GPS recording. It measures about 15.49 km, compared with 15.47 km in the image and the rounded 15 km listing. The retained start includes roughly 73 m across plain sand before reaching the mapped water edge; this is not an entirely offshore track. The finish remains about 46 m offshore and is not a confirmed landing. The line crosses major port approaches: geometric openings are not permission to cross active shipping channels. Confirm port rules, traffic arrangements, currents, water quality and permitted beach access independently. Not for navigation.
